Being a Quiet Student?

Everybody is saying how junior year is the most important time to be establishing relationships with your teachers for recommendations next year. How do you go about doing this? I have always been really quiet in class. I get good grades and like my teachers perfectly well, it just seems like I won't have the connection that is needed for a teacher to write a meaningful recommendation. Anybody else have a similar problem?

Work with a teacher in some way after school. The one teacher I think can write the best recommendation I’ve helped tutor younger kids after school and had her help me with my senior exit project. You have to establish relationships with teachers so they know you intimately enough to write something on your recommendation other than “They’re good at doing their work.”
