So this summer I've been studying economics pretty intensely, like three hours a day, and I've realized that I really like it. But how would I demonstrate my passion and ability at economics to colleges? The only things I can think of are the AP Macro and AP Micro tests, but everyone knows that those are a joke.

Does anyone have any ideas (maybe from past experience) on how to demonstrate achievement in economics?

85% of students who take both exams don’t receive 5’s.

Anyway, if your a rising junior then I recommend either taking econ courses at a local college next year and/or participating in programs like economics for leaders (summer program).

If you live in a major metropolitan area, you could also pursue an internship in an econ consulting firm. If your parents have connections within the financial sector, you could also seek an internship at a global macro HF (or similar).

I’m in the same situation as you, but, assuming you’re a rising junior, a year ahead. All I could think of to do was take AP Econ Macro (my school doesn’t offer Micro), read up on the subject, and participate in economics for leaders (as the above poster mentioned), which I will be doing in a few weeks. There are probably other programs you can participate in or you could just as easily take classes at a local college. I tried looking for internships relating to economics/business but there were simply no worthwhile ones available for high school students. I would also suggest that you read the book Freakonomics, I loved it!
