Being asian is so competititive

Evidently i am asian. ( Look above) Being asian is awesome, get to devour korean food ( YUMMY). And plus, you have asian friends, 2nd language, good in math (LMAO), hott asian girls, etc. But one thing that really annoys the &&^%^% out of me is the COMPETIVENESS. Everywhere i go,church, school, music class, i can always feel this competitive feelings toward asian students my age. Not to white, black, latino, alaskin, etc. Its mainly because we all have the same EXACT goal. And that is 2400 SAT. At my church parents like to brag and tell them about how good or amazing their children are. I mean this cra.. never stops annoying me. I am not annoyed because i have low test scores or anything, its just that asians are always competitive toward their own race. *Sigh -___- ;p :[ :] Does anyone here comply with me?

i'd rather be an asian in america in 2000 than a Jew in Germany 50-60 years ago (or anytime before then, anywhere in europe...)

Amen to that!

however, as a white, male, christian living in the middle class, i still have little place to say that your experience doesn't suck (since i don't know).
the only thing that stinks for me is affirmative action.

AA is probably not hurting you. If that is the most of your worries MBP then you're fine. Lets NOT make this another AA thread. They all suck and get nothing done.

Anyways, at least you have something pushing you SDMS12, that competition probably pushes you a little which could pay off.

hott asian girls, etc.

Hm...I never actually met an Asian girl, our age group, with intentions of dating an Asian guy.

unfortunately, i do not get to devour yummy food, all my asian friends are too busy to really spend time with, my second (and third) languages are useless in america, i am dreadful (awful) at math, and i am not a "hot" asian girl.

so no, coming from asia (south) pretty much sucks for me all around.

but i agree that the worst aspect is the competition

(p.s. i never know, are (south) asians considered, well, asian?)

Come to rural Ohio. There are no Asians, so you won't have to be so competitive.

I love hottttt Asian girls.

^Yes i do my friend. Just wished there was more in my area, lol.

Asians aren't that competitive outwardly. especially if you intimidate them by being better in everyway.

No offense, but competitiveness is everywhere and falls under the rubric of humanity (not race), so get over it. Middle Easterners are so over-competitive that they sometimes lose friendships because of it. Anyone who has the guts to go in and dominate are going to do it.

Okie dokie, Smokie.

if you have so much problem with being around competitive asian people, why not make friends with people from other races? im serious, you choose to keep yourself isolated in that group.

Way to get brainwashed by your parents to think that there's nothing more to life than a 2400 SAT.

:O There's more to life than a 2400 SAT score?!

I'm actually coming to rural Ohio >.<

I get what you mean about the pressure. My parents don't really care because they're Filipino, but most of my friends are Chinese, and they're always like, "Why aren't you taking BC Calculus?! You got a B in math?! And so on." It gets annoying BUT it certainly motivates me to strive to my, uh, full intellectual potential. It's like the only good kind of peer pressure. If it weren't for Asian pressure, I would end up caring less about my future and subsequently being less happy when I'm an adult.

Oh, and Asian girls are indeed very hot. They're just super prude (at least the ones who have any brains). I should know because I am one and am more focused on studying than dating. xp

i feel for you on that
going from a hs with mainly latinos and blacks to a college where majority are asian hit me hard in the face (im asian btw)
its just so competitive at cal sometimes you feel like everyone is against you if you do slightly better than them
and its hard to know who your real friends are because theyre all preying on those grades
well not all of them are like that, just most of them are

Whats amazing is that so many of you ***** to no end despite having more opportunities than all past generations combined. Sad. Life is tough. Get used to it cupcakes.
