I got my deferral letter today, it came in a very thin envelope.

What are the chances that students that are deferred in the ED, can still be accepted for the RD!? I’m an architecture major, so i know it is pretty competitive. however i have heard that a lot of people who don’t get accepted through ED get in during RD and that ED students are pretty impressive and motivated.

i’m sort of freaking out right now so feel free to reply as fast as possible. cal poly is like my dream school i love it so much. i don’t want to have to go to pomona.

stats:
3.7
1150 (comb. v and m)
33/385 i think i am like in the 9%
i am taking college classes now through my hs
took ap honors classes throughout high school

i’m thinking of sending a letter to the head admissions dude, explaining that cal poly slo is my first choice and that i have interviewed a few architects and spent hte day with them in the field and that i would accept right away if i was offered acceptance. does anyone think that’s a good idea or am i just a pest who thinks he still has a chance. if i don’t my life pretty much sucks.

I thought RD deadline was 30th

I'm not sure what you mean

they filtered my app into regular decision because i wasn't accepted in hte early decision period. i think the deadline was around the beginning of december if people were still applying.

i have to wait until the end of march i guess ot find out if i am still in?

they start sending them out end of february for RD.

I remember hearing that Cal Poly's Arch & Design college RARELY takes kids in for early decision because everything is so impacted...

Don't get too tough on yourself.

I did the same thing last year, sadly didn't get in for architecture, but got in for the summer under computer science. Its okay... but i think i'm going to try and transfer majors...

I'll have to spend my next year at home taking a leave of absence at cal poly because you really CANT take the arch classes needed to transfer majors at cal poly w/out being an arch major. (I tried to crash into a class that had 17 chairs and 36 seats. it was stupid) But in the long run, spending a year going to community college back home really might be worth it for arch...

good luck!

what were your stats upon applying into the program for the fall?

thechickenisbad, I had a similar situation where I was switching majors but in order to switch majors I had to take a course which was reserved for majors only. Kind of a dumb idea, but I got lucky enough when I emailed the professor and he gave me a spot.
