<p>My best friend is gay and he’s in a similar situation. It really depends on the school your going to, we live in nyc so its pretty common. Be open with him about it when the time is right hopefully he is open minded and accepting, but regardless be respectful of him and his views no matter what they are. </p>

<p>Do you really mean “no matter what?” What if his reaction is disapproving? What if his reaction is to demand him not to have his boyfriend around the room or to not talk about his sexuality around the room? Or to throw some sort of scared tantrum? A person can only insult your being so much while being able to respect their views and have self-esteem simultaneously. </p>
<p>Posts like this make the roommate out to be some sort of victim, and that notion is such a roadblock.</p>
<p>Just be open about it and hope he is gay too :). You have a 3-6% chance to meet another gay roomate. Why not risk it???</p>
