being interviewed on thursday, what should I expect?

I haven't had to do an interview yet but today I was called and I have one scheduled for thursday afternoon. What questions should I be expecting and how should I prepare myself?

some of the questions my interviewer asked me were
why penn (of course)
why my major
intended career
what other schools did i apply to
and some random ones that wouldnt really apply to anyone here probably haha

Just make sure you know why you want to go to Penn, be able to explain what some of your passions are/u, and why you chose you chose your intended major - although the last one doesn’t apply if you’re undecided. Those are three possible solid questions that you should definitely know the answers to without um-ming and uh-ing a whole lot. If you plan to bring a resume, make sure you know everything on there well and can explain any of the activities or awards on there since he/she may have questions about it.

Most Penn interviews seem to be very casual and conversational, based on my personal experience, my friends’ experiences, and some of the experiences I’ve read on the CC forum. My interviewer did not even ask why I wanted to do business, he just knew I applied to Wharton and left it at that. My interviewer asked the first two questions I mentioned above, asked about my family life, and the rest was just a conversation about random topics - irrelevant to anything about Penn or business.

Things to do to prepare for the interview:

 • Dress somewhat nicely even though they say casual
 • Know your resume back and forth if you’re bringing it
 • Have good answers to those three questions I mentioned
 • Try not to hold back or be shy in talking, usually the interviewers are friendly and way more relaxed in attitude than you might expect them to be. (Mine started throwing a few curse words in during the conversation lol.)
 • Bring a list of questions you want to know about Penn or the interviewer’s experience at Penn. It is okay to have the paper in front of you while asking.

have a prepared to answer as to what penn has to offer that you oh so desperately desire that no other school could possibly do for you and why this feature will further your education and career more so than any other offerings nationwide

Just had my interview and it went great
However I feel like it won’t help too much. Has anyone ever had average stats (2080 SAT, 3.95 GPA), had a great interview, and gotten in?

lucky! i also just interviewed and it was FANTASTIC…he is probably my last interview. it’s great cause penn is my first choice!! oh gosh now i hope i get in even more!!! penn just sounds fantastic

3.95 is not average. haha
