Pre-edit post: (Can I write about Yale's short take essays for my Why Yale essay?)

Current Question: Not having attended the school my view on why I want to apply to Yale is based purely on what I have been told or read or heard from others. The unique characteristics of Yale are not unique topics to write about. Is it necessarily a bad thing to not be unique about my why Yale essay?

IMHO, That’s an awful idea. The better way to approach this is question is “What does Yale offer you that you cannot find at UPenn, or another school?” You might want to explore Yale’s website’s for housing, curriculum, general education, tone, overall happiness, etc.

Here’s what my son wrote four years ago, but as Admissions Officers have already seen these words, you don’t want to risk being called a plagiarist, so you’ll have to consider other aspects of the college.
