Hi everyone! SCEA applicant here. The other day I was rereading some of my supplements (terrible idea, I know), and I suddenly had some concerns about my “Why Yale” essay. I really liked it when I wrote it, but now I’m worried that I did it the wrong way? I talked about Yale’s sense of community, which is pretty general, but I gave specific examples of how I would take advantage of this collaborative spirit. However, I never explicitly said anything about what DISTINGUISHES Yale from other universities. Should I have talked about something more unique to Yale (specific major, teacher, etc.)? I know it’s too late to change anything, but I was just wondering. Thanks so much!
Mistake #1 - self-explanatory
Mistake #2 - your first instinct is generally right.
Mistake #3 - asking random people questions out of context.
What’s done is done. It was probably fine, but without reading the entire essay (and I’m not volunteering), it’s pointless for anyone to critique it in general. Let it go, and try to relax for the next month. Good luck.
Nvm.
What’s important is you liked it at the time.
What you SHOULD Focus on right now is the essays on your other school applications. There is absolutely no point in analyzing an essay that has already been cast in stone, when you could spend more time on the essays to those seven other schools.
