Was wondering if Beloit sends out emails to confirm receipt of an application, and if Beloit has an online site where applicants can check the status of the application? Thanks!

I’m wondering the same thing

Three years ago when my daughter was applying they did not do either. You could give your admissions counselor a call or send an email and ask - they are always very friendly.

Son got a letter saying they received his app. So now we play the waiting game…

My son received an email today saying his application was complete. You should probably get one quite soon.

does everyone live on campus?

My S got in today and the letter came by regular mail! Yea! He applied EA in late October.

Anyone else hear anything yet?

Yup, my D got her acceptance letter regular mail today as well. She applied either very late October or the first week in November.

Same here, got acceptance package which was fun - admitted students overnight, dorm form, etc. She also got a great scholarship which was exciting. Already ordered a t-shirt (although I didn’t like any of them on line).

Anyone else still waiting for their EA I decision?

…same with you…I have not received their decision…

S2 accepted! Very nice personalized acceptance letter. Gives a good impression of Beloit. :)

sunmachine - I totally agree with you re the good impression. They seem to be one of the few colleges that “get” the importance of their admissions department. The head of the department, I forget his name right now, is wonderful when he gives his info session and the personalized letters do mean a lot and is sort of what you would hope for from a small LAC. Even my daughter said she’ll feel bad if she decides on another school.

I also like that they have admitted student days in February, March, and April as it alleviates some of the pressure in April. As of right now there is no way we can visit all the schools my daughter has been/will be (hopefully) admitted to during April admitted student days.

I’ve been admitted EA…just don’t know if I can afford it…:(

Ok, so I got a merit scholarship, so is that seperate from need-based aid? For example, if my parents’ EFC is 12,000, can my merit scholarship cover that or is it already figured into the EFC?

rbouwens - you’ve been admitted and they’ve given you money so you are now in the drivers seat. Call the school and speak with them, it’s their turn to sell you.

I’m just confused. Is it fair that they use merit against you? Get what I’m saying? They use merit scholarships to “subsidize” financial aid packages for need, right?? What’s the point of earning merit if they’d give it to me without merit in financial aid?? Am I wrong? Understand what I’m saying?

A person with no merit could pay the same as a person with merit…right?

So, it’s like my merit just lessened what they would have given me if I had not gotten any merit.

I’M SO CONFUSED. :(

The best way to alleviate your confusion is call and speak to them about this instead of asking here. They have already admitted you and will do what they can to explain the system to you.

Yes, I contacted them and my assumptions were correct. :(
