Below average SAT score

Hi guys, im an international student taking A levels and my SAT was bad
i got 1500 composite SAT
(CR : 480 , Math:620, Wr: 400)

I took ielts and i got a band 7.5

I hope u guys can chance me based on my unis preference

UC San Diego
UC Santa Barbara
Penn State
Uni of minnesota Twin Cities
Uni of Winsconsin Madison
Uni of Washigton at Seattle

Im a sponsored student so i guess i have no trouble with the fees and such.
i joined lots of extracurricular activities such as in national level competition, i compete in
taekwondo, youth forum, debate, science research and i entered ISWEEEP in Texas

Might be better off at Wake Forest, Brandeis or American, especially if you do well on A-levels… they are test-optional.

UCSD: High reach
UCSB: Reach
UWI: Reach
UWA: Reach
UMinn: Reach

For Penn State, come back here once you have the breakdown of the O-levels/GCSEs, as well as predicted A-levels… these things are ~2/3 of the way into Penn State.

Thanks catria
Ive got my predicted A levels result which is
A* A A
But i didnt take O levels because i sat for a national examination
back in my home country

If my national examination is equivalent to the O levels,
Ive got 8A 2B
Can that help increase my chances?

If you’re full pay, you’re fine for Penn State since they’ll heavily factor your 8As on GCSEs + full pay “hook”. :)

Thanks, well do i have any chance admitting
into ucSb since im sponsored?
Is it reachable

I doubt that you can get into UCSB with a 1500, even as an out of state sponsored student and even with some leeway for the CR.

Hi i’d like to update my uni choices, i have added uc davis and uc irvine. What are my chances with an SAT score of 1500 and sponsored?

I think all of these schools are reaches.

For UCI I’d say your odds are similar as for UMN.
That’s assuming you’re not applying for engineering or majors with limited enrollment/further selection to get into.
Hopefully your recent retake saw a major increase.
