It wasn't the most intelligent comment to make, in my opinion--just look what happened. And, after all, it's a very small section of the Islamic population that is violent, but the fundamentalists just completely proved the quotes right when they went around burning churches and such. I mean: "We are not violent! Let's go burn down some churches!!"

Oh for heaven's sake, I really do not want to get into this. But let me state: I am Muslim, and I think reacting to someone calling you violent by running around and burning things and causing general chaos is pretty high up there on moronic things you can do.

I'm not gonna get into a debate here, I just want everyone to know that it's absolutely stupid to get all crazy over something someone said. If you hate it that much, protest peacefully. I really don't know what these people think they're proving when they react violently.

Also, abhishiv, Islam is not supposed to be "spread by the sword."

That's my rant. I don't want to get into this any further.

I really don't understand the mentality of these kinds of Muslims. "How DARE you call us violent?!? We'll KILL you!" Do they stop to think of the irony of their reaction?

Crap like this latesy fiasco just renews my support and enthusiasm for the Bush Doctrine. Thank God we have a President like George W. Bush, who has taken it upon himself to drag the Middle East -- kicking and screaming -- into the 21st century.

I don’t want to get into a debate or anything but usually the people who say "were not violent" are different people who say "Im gunna kill you"

just like I would say "I would never bomb an abortion clinic" another Christian might say "I want to bomb clinics" there is stupid violent people in every religion.

I really wish there could be some understanding between the Muslim World and the Western World. I'm so tired of all this fighting; why can't we just all love one another?

I really wish people would stop thinking in terms of "the Muslim World."

If anything, I find the stupid violent people who do stupid un-Islamic things in the name of Islam even stupider than you find them. You get to see what they do and think "What idiots." I get to see what they do, think "what idiots" then, have other people think that I'm one of those idiots just because I wear a scarf.

Islam is no more violent or severe than Christianity. Its just to bad for many Americans that there first introduction to Islam was on 9/11 and they think that that is true Islam. Additionally, no peaceful Muslim has ever seem to make the 6:00 news, it seems that we only like the “Islamofascists” (as Bush puts it) variety.

There are N number of American/British Muslims in this world who consider themselves to be Muslim first and American/British second. They wouldn't hesitate to stand against their own country if their religions says so..

Guys, you find nothing objectionable about a Christian missionary who refuses aid to quake/tsunami victims if they don't convert to Christianity.

Except for perhaps modern times, Muslims were way more tolerant of other religions than Christians. Muslim kingdoms did not care if their conquered subjects converted to Islam, as long as they did not cause trouble. When the Christians re-Christianized Spain, many of the Jews escaped to the Ottoman Empire because the Christians were violent bastards. There is so much hypocrisy in Christianity, it's infuriating; at least there's more transparency in Islam.
