So I got accepted into Pitt honors, but I am still not sure if I want to do honors housing or regular housing just because honors housing is so far from everything else. Are there certain honors benefits I wouldn’t have access to if I did regular housing? Also, what is Honors LLC? Would I still be able to be in honors LLC if I do regular housing?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
FWIW - here’s an old parents’ argument FOR honors housing…I was concerned that even though my daughters were serious students with specific goals in mind, having a party-only-mindset roommate could be a major impediment to their academic success.
Both D’s were accepted into honor programs - one at Pitt and the other at PSU.
Both went into honors housing for their first two years (at my incessant prodding[never say nagging!]).
Both daughters graduated on time and with honors and with the professional degrees they intended from when they enrolled.
BTW - D1’s roommate (for 5 of their 6 years at school) is now a pediatric surgeon in NYC, while D2’s roommate (for 4 of her 5 years at school) got her MBA from Columbia. Rooming with a serious fellow student is conducive to academic success.
Oh yeah, and both of them were active in athletic and academic extracurriculars during their undergrad years.
