Just wondering if it would be beneficial in taking an edX or mooc course in subjects that i’m interested in such as International Relations and what would be the benefits during the admissions process and later on. Also, if anyone has ever done one can they give me some feedback to how they feel it helped/didn’t help them.
The benefit is that you’ll be going into college with a better understanding of what you want to do, so you’ll be miles ahead of your classmates and thus can get (essentially) a “head start” in the classes required for your interests. Additionally, you’ll have an easier time talking to professors, and can talk about the subjects you’ll cover at a more advanced level.
Will they help you get into college? Ehhh probably not much. But there are way more important things than college.
Minimal benefit. You can put it on your app, but there isn’t even a space for them on the Common App, you need to put them in the Additional Info section.
