Bentley 2024 Regular Decision

@Hello1019 like you, my daughter was accepted to honors but not WLP. Maybe you’re correct that you can’t have both.

Aside from merit money, has anyone received the financial aid package or will that come separate later?

Hi, I was offered a full tuition scholarship along with the Women’s in Leadership. I also received acceptance into honors. My stats are: GPA uw 3.8, ACT 34 superscore, and rank 4/207. I founded a club.

The financial aid letter will come separately

My complete financial aid letter came out today. I got an email saying there was a status update on my portal and when you click on it, it shows you the financial info. I don’t know if that’s the case for everyone but I wanted to let you guys know.

Nothing for us yet

I haven’t gotten my financial award letter yet. Is that unusual?

I think so. You should have received it by now. You should call or email admissions to find out.

It should be on the portal. My son got an email that there was an update on his portal.

We had to scan them over two schedules, both of which had financials only adding up to less than $900 but maybe that is going to make a huge difference(?). Looking at previous info from them it looks like we are all supposed to hear around April1.

When do we hear about FA? I thought it was April 1? The NPC gave us a lot of $ but so far only a $10k scholarship - how close is BU to what the NPC says? Anyone?

Narrowed down to Bentley, BC or Bucknell, Any opinions ?
Thanks

Is cost a factor?

If your child is going to work in the Boston area after graduation, BC and Bentley are the best choices as their alums are everywhere and networking will be easy. Interviewing for internships and full-time jobs will be convenient as Boston is just 15 minutes away. I don’t know much about Bucknell other than location-very rural and lots of New York students.

Boston College is considered more prestigious than Bentley and it’s almost impossible to get accepted to BC unless you have 700+ SATs. See College Board statistics. Both offer fine business majors but more BC kids head to Wall Street than Bentley.

BC-Eagles, football especially, binds the campus and builds school spirit. Alums from multiple generations arrive in droves so it a great environment in the fall. The campus is just minutes to Boston and the trolley stops at the campus entrance. Bentley sports are weak by comparison–it’s more of a business school whereas BC is a liberal arts school with a highly respected business program.

@suzyQ7 : Can’t speak for Bentley. I am a freshman at Bucknell. I attended an economic class at BC during my search process. There were over a 100 kids in the class and it was taught by a TA. I loved the location but ultimately chose Bucknell because I got into the business school where the average class size is 20 . I have friends at BC and they love everything about the school.

The whole academic experience at Bucknell has exceeded my expectations. The location is very rural and downtown consists of one street with restaurants , shops and a few bars I figured I was going to work in a city for the rest of my professional career so I was willing to consider a small town school.

The plus side of Bucknell’s location is that the campus is beautiful and the students, faculty & staff are very welcoming. It is easy to get involved. Almost everything revolves around the campus. Even the library is a social scene - its packed Sunday through Friday afternoon. Saturday is for Supers (day parties at rented houses downtown). Frat parties Friday nights. Greek life is more social and laid back than often reported in CC. greeks participate in all other kinds of campus activities. It is not an “all or nothing proposition” that some make it out to be.

If you are looking for a city experience, Bucknell is definitely not for you.

Hope this helps and good luck

What about Umass Isenberg vs Bentley? Cost is a factor which is why we said NO to Clemson who gave us no aid at all even with a FAFSA etc showing it was “needed”. The difference between UMass and Bentley is big but not big enough to make a difference at this point.

This thread has been fairly quiet. I did see some news from Bentley on their plans for fall semester. I think they are providing some CHOICES for students when they most need it. They have also extended decision day to May 15. What do others think?

They are adding a summer semester for 2021 at no additional tuition cost. This gives students options in the fall to:

1)come to campus (if open) - and do a reduced course load if they want (in case it ends up online later)
2) avoid the semester all together if everything is online - making it up in the summer at no added cost
3) Graduate early if they want to - using the summer semester to finish coursework.

Their Plan A - is still back to campus. But I really like these options.

My son loves the options. He is a current sophomore and said that he and his friends love the idea. They will likely do full semesters in Fall and Spring and then take a couple classes (or more) in the summer…Live on campus and commute to their internships in Boston or metro Boston area. They all seemed pretty positive about it.

My daughter is really excited about this option too (and so are we)! She’s an incoming freshman and I like having the option for her to take only 2 classes in the fall - IF it turns out that campus is closed. If its open, and things are going well, she can do a full schedule or 4 courses in the fall, and get ahead the following summer. Or not. Its good to have choices.

My son has done very well there. And with all the upheaval, Bentley has really been on top of things. I love the option and think it’s a great offer. I like that they are being creative. Good luck to your daughter. I think she will like it at Bentley.
