All information appreciated on how the UR econ program would compare to Bentley’s economics program. Interested in how the general academics and student body compare as well.

As a parent of students at both, I can answer.

Bentley is a business school, so almost all students there are focused on learning about business subjects. UR students have more diverse academic interests. This difference affects life inside and outside the classroom; Bentley students have diverse interests (look at their film program, for instance) and some students have liberal studies majors, but does not have large numbers of students who want to major or minor in music, drama or art. UR feels more diverse because it offers a wider range of majors.

In terms of size and campus, both are similar although Bentley has always felt smaller to me. Boston in nicer than Rochester. My child at Bentley had more small classes and more individual attention from professors than my child at UR.

Thank you for your feedback. I am glad that someone who has personal experience with both can help me get more information about the two. At Bentley, I would get the chance to participate in the honors program which has a variety of benefits such as a smaller class setting, while at UR I would be in their REBS program with guaranteed acceptance into the Simon School. I am also weighing the athletic portion of my decision, and of course the financial aid aspect. All other information on both institutions would be appreciated.

How would the reputations of the two institutions compare? Is one considered to offer greater opportunities than the other?
