By world-weary I was thinking more along the lines of Humphrey Bogart, the quintessential hard drinking tough guy. But whatever. You suck!

C'mon, play nice, people.

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY

bwahahahahhahah...

He's a college graduate! What a guy.

I do have an observation about the students here that you all probably won't like. It seems like people here are maybe not as fun as you would expect college kids to be. Like, in a situation in which there is potential for a lot of fun, people here tend to be more serious. It's hard to explain...like today there was a bird or bat flying around in someone's room. And I was having a good time laughing it up. But the girl whose room it was was angry, the RA trying to catch the bat was tired and angry...no one seemed to share my sense of humor about it all, except for one girl, who is actually kind of purty...so that's something I've noticed. And I'm probably wrong. But it's the same in Chem lab. It's easy stuff and I try to have a good time, but most everyone else is pretty serious, except the GSI. It's a little depressing considering most of us are still 18 or 19 years old. People have fun by partying and getting drunk, fine, but if you can't have fun in your daily routine, life will suck.

Maybe you are right, aim78, but some people are this way almost everywhere. I was talking to a third year law student at Boalt who commented on how nice the people were here compared to Yale. He said, "It makes sense- you can't just be really nice to everybody if you're trying to rule the world." Well, perhaps here, people are trying to go to professional school and grad school, or maybe just the people who surround you. I don't know. Just an anecdote . . .

This thread has gotten really amusing. I appreciate some of the ideas some people had. I dont care for San Francisco at all because I used to live there for a good portion of my life. I do have both a motorcycle and a car for transportation, but I was referring to Berkeley in particular.

Since I havent posted for a while I will answer a couple people.

avoidingwork- I will checkout some of those places some time. I did do a few other things such as signing up for more units so i have 20. I also joined a Decal class and got an internship.

theCollegeGame- I did not get into UCLA and UCSB cause I didnt apply for them. I only applied to and got into Berkeley and Stanford. I had to choose Berkeley because of financial considerations.

cannednish- Since your excited about the slam poetry ill check it out.

To some for you- I also dont think its funny talk laugh at homeless bums due to there economic situation. I am sure there are better things to do that to check out bums on the street.

I also want to mention that we are missing a Sakky post.

Amusing yes...

Indirectly BUMPing post hoping that Sakky will part with some of her infinite knowledge

Sakky claims to be a him and might get offended if you claim otherwise.

Sorry in advance then. Sorry if I'm wrong Sakky.

Happy happy happy!!

I had no idea that man was doing that for so long.

Yeah he's still going, Last I saw him he was on the campus side of Bancroft and Telegraph (I'm not sure if that is his usual spot?). So great, makes you want to do something like that, but I would be a little self-concious with people staring at me all day. On the other hand it seems that many people have no problem with that (Happy, happy, happy man and random people yelling in front of Sproul Hall)

oh man. i totally forgot about the Daily Cal.

Do any other schools have sex articles like Cal does?

It can't be that unique, can it? It's not as if Berkeley discovered sex. Whatever. The sex articles are written poorly and basically just get a theme and use as many slang words as possible for various involved body parts or actions.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but sex on Tuesday's this year has been really lame. The writing sucks and the topics are completely tame compared to Sari's articles last year. I also think that Squelch! has lost alot of its luster too. Maybe I'm just living in the past, but the batch of writers for both seems to have dropped off considerably.

Oh then I must see some old Squlech! I'm finding the ones now actually making me laugh, not all the pages though.

Another update. A lot of the girls in berkeley are either really dorky or creepy. However, lately I have been having good luck with the women!!!!!!! Im not bored anymore I take it all back.

sex on tuesdays is beyond bad. if i wasn't already on the daily cal, i'd want to write the column.

Seeing that you are on the paper, do something about the quality. Anything?
