I forsook UCSB so that I could go to a community college and so that I could have the chance transfer from there to Berkeley.

Recently for some time I sort of began to regret not deciding to attend UCSB. I thought about the dynamic social scene and the killer parties down there at Isla Vista, the college town next to UCSB. I began to cope with the problem realizing that I could just visit one of my friends who will be attending UCSB this Fall. I will visit him this Holloween, that's for sure.

Well, I know that Berkeley is world reknown and that in the end I made a better choice for the security of my future. I was just wondering however, what do the kids at Berkeley do to have some college fun? I mean, are there any crazy parties on campus? Not trying to sound like a clown, just wondering.

Not on campus necessarily; frat parties are typical frat parties - rowdy, wild and crazy. Bowles Hall in particular used to throw massive parties, and Berkeley had to make the dorm freshman-only to alleviate the problem of excess from the Gentlemen of Bowles. Finding a good party at Berkeley is NOT HARD at all; drugs are very popular here (thanks to the extreme left), and alcohol is abundant. Any institution with a population of hard studiers will have alcohol on hand to relieve itself of typical academia stress.

If you want the UCSB party vibe, yuo can always join the greek system at Cal. There just are more "channels" at Cal, with a broader spectrum, and more in terms of urban attractions. SF is right across the bay and lots of things to do and see in the bay area.

Yeah. I think it would be better stated that drugs are popular here because it's a college campus--duh. Young people, no matter what their political background, will experiment.

So how exactly do you find parties at Berkeley? I was there for a year and the only "parties" I attended were for my dorm floor. We uh...we ate cookies and milk.

In my experience, recreational drug use has not been prevalent at all, unless you count alcohol. Been here a whole semester and haven't been able to find any herb. Shocking isn't it?
