Maybe it's just me but i really feel like i would've rather moved-in on a date closer to classes... I feel like i'm just wandering wasting time

I'm doing just that. I had a feeling it would be sorta "waste of time" and since I already know plenty of people there, I didn't really feel the NEED to make some more friends during Welcome Week. I mean, I will make plenty of friends during classes, so it wasn't that much of an issue. I'm bringing stuff throughout the week since I'm pretty close to Berkeley anyways. Yay, so I'm not missing much.

it only seems fun for the people who have had a strict upbringing and like to drink...

well... the info sessions related to academia were pretty nice. but yeah, the other 23 hours of the day are a waste. i feel weird and everyone stinks. the elevators stink and the study lounges stink. ppl need to do their laundry and take a shower at least once a day.

i couldn't disagree with more. i'm having a great time meeting new people (i didn't know anybody at all when I came to berkeley) and not one of the activities i've been involved in has had alcohol. last night there was a soccer game going on in the courtyard of the units. night before that there were like over 30 people hanging out and talking in my suite. so yeah, i guess i just got lucky...

lol....you should see Etcheverry, Cory and Evans Halls. They all look like jail cells. You do get pretty depressed just walking in them.

IMO, the first half of Welcome Week is great. Then it dies down, and you just relax before classes start. That's what I did last year anyway.

^ that's what I'm doing...

You are paying for welcome week in your fees.

for continuing students, should i really use my energy and leave my dorm room to meet new people, or just wait until classes start?... dont feel like meeting anymore ppl, ive talked to enough and these introductions are getting too redundant to the point of annoyance...

Everyone seems to be having a great time. I had fun, but I'm home now for the weekends since I'm settled and comfortable with Berkeley. The second half of Welcome Week is really just to get back into gear and remember that classes are about to start. So rather than moping around, you COULD be preparing for class...

i went home for the weekend... i don't like to meet people for the sake of meeting people

i wish i could go home for the weekend. damn socal.

At times it seems like it's a waste, at times it is amazing.

Goodness! Sleepisabyss... I totally agree with you. I can't run to the elevator fast enough because the ground floor smells like a boys locker room!! But my floor smells really nice, so at least it's not my floormates. I'm having lots of fun welcome week. I think we'll wish that we were wasting time at welcome week when we're immersed in hard work about 3 months from now... so remember that.

Oops! I meant "Sleepisabliss"! Sorry about that :)

I think it's a good chance to meet new people since it's hard to know anyone is a 400 ppl lecture. Also nice to be able to get used to the new environment.

Free Coke zero & unhealthy food @ the luncheon...

Water you get 1 small bottle per person .. .

Just I piece of Fruit, but unlimited junk food full of trans-fat.

Yeah, they didn't let me get an additional bottle of water, while just displayed the carbonated beverage out there, whoever wanted them can take.

And Caltopia, I don't really know why I went there.
