Berkeley Economics

Hey all,

I am trying to decide whether I should transfer UCD -> UCB. The main factor is whether I can get into the economics major during the first semester there.

Davis GPA: 3.85
Major GPA: 4.0
Finished econ reqs
Finished math reqs with Calculus AP and Math1B. Just need to take Stat20
UC reciprocity (if that helps)

Chance?

Your stats are great. I don’t see why you would have a problem getting in.
[Prospective Majors](Applying to the Economics Major | Department of Economics)

They want you to list an alternate major if you have a GPA of 3.1 or lower. I’m sort of relieved

What is the average GPA of those accepted into the economics major?

you just need a 3.0 in prereqs to get in. you might still get in if u fall below still.

^that’s for Berkeley undergrads, it’s probably different for transfers

I believe transfer students still need to take some more pre-reqs for econ before declaring once they get here. the op is worried about getting into the econ major once he has already transferred in.

I’ve been lurking around more and I’ve read some people saying that to be competitive for the major you need upwards of a 3.5
