Considering UCB in the fall.
I got awarded a scholarship and grants to cover tuition and in the status box in MyFinAid it says confirmed and in the forms needed section it says zero.

Seemingly obvious question... but am I good? Has anyone else been automatically confirmed w/o having to submit verification?

I want to know how to cash in the financial aid.

@KarmaGo. By ‘cash in’ do you mean receive your financial aid reward? If that’s the case, here’s something from the Berkeley Financial Aid Website. [UC Berkeley Financial Aid and Scholarships Office: Undergraduates When / How Aid Pays](http://students.berkeley.edu/finaid/undergraduates/when.htm)

Does all my money come at the same time?
Your financial aid awards are for the academic year. Half is disbursed in Fall and half in Spring. When funds are first disbursed for the semester some of your aid may not pay out. For example, if you have accepted a loan but you have not completed a master promissory note, the loan will not be disbursed until you have completed the entire loan process.

Can I choose not to have the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office pay my bills in CARS?
Your financial aid must be used to pay registration fees, non-resident tuition, and residence hall bills, and any current family housing bills, before any funds can be disbursed to you. You can choose to have other CARS bills not paid automatically. This option appears in MyFinAid.

Thanks. That explains everything.

well, it sounds like you are set. but you need to have all your transcripts submitted and be registered for classes full time before it pays out. and my transcripts were returned to my school because of some new dude in the Cal mailroom with a black felt pen crossed out the address and sent them back to my school for no reason. even though i had cut and pasted the address from my contract onto the envelope. that was a fun adventure getting that straightened out. cost me 100 dollars in gas to hand deliver them myself.

frankly, the website is goofy and i am enrolled in summer and emailed them about my summer aid. they were fantastic and fixed a couple of bugs in the summer aid system on bearfacts and awarded me instantly. anyway, bearfacts is odd because the info is displayed slightly buggy. and some financial aid features for summer were not working properly. but the fall 2012 seems okay. my point is it sounds okay, but you can always stop by the financial aid office and make sure that they don’t need anything more from you. or call them. congratulations on getting admitted!

thanks!! appreciate it. Do you know if summer financial aid will cover on campus housing?

for my financial aid at least, Berkeley Grant covered my tuition, but they offered me a loan to cover my housing

yeah, i think you can get a loan to pay for housing because the supplemental pell grants for summer were cancelled this year thanks to the evil congress. and they should cover tuition if your EFC is zero. but don’t wait too long to apply, i think there are deadlines. have fun! i am taking two classes this summer. so excited. oh, there is a minimum enrollment for summer in order to receive financial aid. not sure how many units. maybe 6 or 7.

^i’m taking 2 classes as well, for transfer edge! and the minimum units for financial aid is 6.
