Berkeley pools

Hey everyone,

It's a bit warm this week so far and I'm itching to swim. Does anybody know which pool is the best for a nice relaxing dip? I heard Strawberry canyon is great but is it free with a gym membership?

yup. only pool where you can just chill and play around in the pool too. most of the other pools you have to swim laps only.

if you go to canyon, make sure to bring your own towel. They do provide locks, just ask the person. (And of course, bring your ID)

rsf is good. but i guess that means u’d have to do laps? idk u could stand around if u wanted to i would think

I mean you could hang on the wall in the pool…the shallowest is 7 ft. if you mess around, the lifeguard will likely ask you to stop.

unless you’re talking about sunbathing, then sure, you can just go to rsf for that. but it’s not the greatest place to lay out, although there are people who do that.

i love strawberry canyon pool! man its a hike to get up there though!

^ makes it that much better once you get up there.

Hearst gym pool. Loved the old marble beauty…but probably open for lap swimming only.

My favourite’s Golden Bear - great view of the bay while tanning, chill lifeguards, not many people.

Hearst runs a close second, but Strawberry’s way too far (crazy hike!) and too many kids dive-bombing. RSF is full of scary pro-swimmers.

I love Strawberry Canyon, but partly because I can’t swim well (not at all at the beginning of the semester lol) and go there to practice class stuff. Btw, they don’t have locks anymore, so usually I just lay my stuff down. Pretty safe up there.

Super annoying during hot weekends, too many stupid little kids everywhere. Seems like mostly non-students go up there, even though it’s $5 entry with no RSF membership. :(

5 dolla better than 10 dolla at RSF. keke.
