CAL RSF Martial Arts! (and ping pong)

i'm looking for cool stuff to do when i'm in berkeley, and i'd appreciate more info on RSF Martial Arts.

http://calbears.berkeley.edu/insidepage.aspx?uid=35bb7b5d-3fa8-4b21-a9dd-ff67276859fd

can anyone tell me if a lot of people participate? and is it quality instruction? do we do all our stuff in a big room with lots of space? care to share your experience with it?

also, can anyone tell me about table tennis at the RSF? the schedule says 2-6pm on Saturdays is like the official meeting, and i'm definitely going to those.

but i like to play ping pong a lot and would like to do so thruout the week. are there a lot of tables and players regularly thruout the day? are the players there any good? i'm hoping to just get some good pickup games going a few times during the week.

lol these may seem like pretty silly questions, but i'm curious so reply if you have answers! thanks.

thats awesome. im guessing your a spring admit. me too...i dont know much about what your asking but i'll be one of those who loves playing ping pong.

yeah i'm a spring admit. you any good? haha

depends. i know im not a total novice, but im not confident enough to say im good, especially if you mean pro-status good where i would be change the rubber and sponge on my paddle every month.

no i don't mean that, i just mean are you good at a recreational level?

btw if you are really a ping pong nut like i am, you should consider joining the Berkeley Table Tennis Club. they meet once a week on Fridays from 6:00-9:45pm at the James Kennedy Recreation Center.

here's the website:

http://www.berkeleytabletennis.org/

when i visited berkeley earlier this year, i played with them and it's really fun. lots of people show up, like 80, so there's whole range of skill levels. and the people who play at the top table are really amazing lol.

i think im good at rec level.

im not that much of a nut...that place is like blocks away from berk. besides theres already a table tennis sports club at the rsf. dont know how good it is though

it's not that bad if you go via the AC bus.

yeah, i'm still hoping to find good competition at the RSF for daily games.

Our martial arts program is extremely good, in my experience. Our Taekwondo team is first in the nation, if my friend is telling me right. And the instructors are all multiple level black belts- the student instructors are anywhere from blue to red, but they're all hardcore anyways. The martial arts room is right next to the aerobics room: it's the one with all the mats inside.
