so what's the social scene like at Berkeley? Or are MCB kids too busy freaking out and stuyding to party a little? lol. no but really, what's the atmosphere like? Thanks!

Most people have cliques of friends they hang out with that solidify from the first year, usually from the dorms.

There's party's and stuff like any other college but most of your real friends will be from your first year clique.

Personally, I find it most easy to make friends in clubs. I haven't really gotten to meet anyone my dorm yet because I spend so much of my time out. Most of my friends are in Asian American Association, the largest club on campus.

AAA isn't a representative club because its so big. They are a few super clubs on campus. The smaller clubs they have the officers, and the officer-wannabes and thats it. So that's it. There's other avenues to making friends but they all require a lot of effort as you need to be able to see people on a consistent basis to be friends.

Things like band, the greek scene, co-ops can make you friends, but most times, in many of these scenes, you are only friends because of proximity, not because of shared interest.

I found a lot of people difficult to talk to since most kids act like they did in high school; not a lot of interests or maturity. If you like generic friends, then its probably easy to get them.

Most of the people that you meet will probably be those that you live with, or friends of your friends, or people in the same clubs that you're in, or classes. The parties are usually of a few types, 1) in frats, 2) in co-ops, 3) in people's houses or apartments. There are many events on campus and throughout the Bay Area, in particular San Francisco, where you can meet people if you're particularly social or where you can go with people that you know from campus.
