Has anyone on CC been through the process of obtaining a Berkeley street parking permit. On the website, it says you have to register your car to the Berkeley address. So I assume that means having to go to the DMV etc. So do you just change the address for the car? Do you have to change your address on your driver's license too? How does it all work? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, you just change the address for your car, not the license. You can do this online.

Just make sure you're in a part of town that is eligible for street permits. :P

The dorms are not eligible, for example.

bringing a car to berkeley is so not worth it, it ain't even funny. You can really only get a permit if you live off-campus (not in dorms), but even then it blows. There really is no reason to have one unless you need to regularly travel beyond the bay area!

If you do park on the street, beware your bumpers will be so scratched. I got street parking to help out for a week post-surgery and sometimes the cars parked in front and back were both touching my bumpers!
