I was just curious on how you can get a parking permit. When/Where are you supposed to apply for it? How expensive is it?

Thanks! (and I know its not recommended for freshmen to get a car)

sorry to say but i think it might be too late
1. there are in high demand, they go fast
2. im pretty sure deadline was last month for application
3. its hard to get them when your on time

but if you have a pressing need, you should always call. they might help you out. they might not. worth a try

They limit the parking permit? Isn't that kind of shady. I mean, what if a person's living in another city. It doesn't say anything on the website about a deadline.

check with some fraternities/sororities because they will sell left over parking spaces in their lots to students who are interested

Also, check Craigslist if you're really desperate for parking.

is there a reason you want to bring a car? Unless you need it for some medical issue, it really isn't worth it. Besides the high priced parking permits (which in no way guarantees parking spaces...they're always packed), berkeley and the bay area have a great public transportation system. You can go anywhere in the east bay and SF on bus, BART, or combo of the two. Plus, you save gas, which in the bay area is significantly higher than the national average.

yeah it's a pain to get it through ucb. i just got one a block away from foothill through craigslist, might wanna give that a try. a bit pricey but worth it...

The Berkeley city garage near unit 3 has monthly parking permits available for $150, as another pricy option.
