Berkeley to Harvard?

Okay if I finish at Berkeley's Haas school of business, what would it take to move onto Harvard?

This is after 2 years of CC and another 2 at Haas.

By the way, Would working at a bank be good experience for Business Admin to get in?

The majority of top business schools really require two things:

 1. Outstanding academic record (GPA, class choice, etc)
 2. Outstanding outside-the-classroom involvement that shows your passion for business, and conveys a sense of purpose that can convince them that you will contribute to their campus.

Harvard is no different. I think if you have a good background in statistics, economics, etc, and your GPA is good (I know that is hard for Berkeley), and at the same time you have involved yourself with internships and other things of the sort, you will make it.

It also helps that Haas is the strongest business program in California and among the top 3, in my opinion, in the entire country. Just make sure you put maximum effort into your application/essays/things like that.

For business admin, you’re looking more for leadership positions. Working at a bank as a teller probably won’t help you all that much, but it’s a good place to start. Visit the Berkeley careers page and email all of the successful people asking about what they did to get into their graduate schools.

This is the forum for undergraduate applications to Harvard. If you are interested in earning a masters in business at Harvard Business School, you should repost here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/business-school-mba/

FWIW: Harvard does NOT offer an undergraduate degree in business. Looking over the undergraduate courses from Berkeley’s Haas School Of Business, I don’t think Harvard College (the undergraduate school) would accept many of these courses if you were to apply as a transfer applicant, as the courses don’t cover the same material that is taught at Harvard. Compare the courses and see for yourself:

I assume you’re talking about the Harvard MBA program? Most Harvard MBAs have several years of post-college work experience, typically at least 2 years and quite a few with 4 years or more. Last I saw average age at entrance is late 20s. So academics are important but perhaps more important is compelling work experience.

There are sites out there that focus on MBA admissions and as noted this one is mostly about undergraduate.

Please note that this thread was started in 2008! I think the OP probably has moved on since then. Do not resurrect old threads. Closing this one.
