I applied to the college of liberal arts and sciences at Berkeley, and got in. The problem is that I recently decided that I want to go into engineering, specifically bioengineering. I am very strong in math and science, but am worried that it will be difficult to transfer into the school of engineering. Does anyone have an experience with this? What are the chances of getting into the CoE, bioengineering, or even any engineering at all? It is basically the deciding factor of whether I enroll to Berkeley or not. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am in your exact situation, bioengineering and everything. The most significant point I am worrying about, though, is that potential L&S transfers can only apply to the CoE at the end of freshman year. How does this work out?

From what I know, there are certain classes that must be taken before you can apply like physics, calc, a couple engineering classes and chemistry, which will probably take 1-2 semesters based on how many AP’s you come in with and whatnot. But what I’m worried about is if it is a 100% guarantee that you are in if you have a 3.4 GPA, completed all the classes, and have your 4-year plan worked out or if there is a shot that you won’t get in even with everything completed and up to their standards. And also how hard is it to get into E7 and E10 from the college of L&S?
