For those whose school is quarter system, you must include your spring quarter units in the row 14. Without doing that, you might not have enough units to be considered for admission.

Weird, I don’t see any place to sum up units anywhere. All I did was the Major Requirement, Breadth Requirement and the Transfer Update forms. Perhaps we get different update forms per college ? I am applying for L&S.

Are you sure you don’t have the “UC Transferable Courses Summary?”

Is that a separate part from breadth, major, transfer update? Definitely then. and I’ve gone through every page of those sections and tried to ctrl + f summary and never found anything.

@HelloPersonC

Call them!

I feel like it isn’t a problem if my thing doesn’t show it. they would have asked if they wanted it perhaps it is because i am attempting to transfer from another uc not a cc.

@HelloPersonC

Oh you should’ve mentioned that to us…LOL. You’re fine then.

@karduz,

We’re supposed to include planned classes for spring as well as the classes that are in progress? I’m glad you mentioned that because I wouldn’t have thought of that. Are you sure though? It’s weird that it’s not more clear about that.

Yeah, that what’s the Berkeley rep told me when she visited my school. She said only schools with quarter system have to include planned courses for spring in the UC transferable courses summary. Only 3 CCC are on the quarter system though. You also need to mention it in the additional comment box

@karduz

But do you add Row 14 to UC Transferable Courses Total? I’m highly sure.

Of course you need to do it. If not, the MyBerkeleyApp will tell you to do so. And remember to explain the situation in the additional comment box.

This form is used to quickly tell the admission officer that you will have enough units prior to transfer or not. However, for the other forms, you include them as planned.

@karduz
Thanks so much. You might have saved me my shot at being accepted, because I never would have realized they were asking for planned courses as well. Thank god for college confidential.

I don’t think we’re supposed to add our planned spring courses in the “in progress” section (row 14)!!!
I just added courses I’m currently taking at Winter!! anybody else?!

^ You’re supposed to put your In progress (winter) courses and your planned (spring) courses* into the application.
*if you have already started spring then the courses can be listed as in progress

I have not started spring yet…I am in winter 2014 semester right now!!
that’s weird, why didn’t they say “Row 14: In Progress & Credit/Pass Units & Planned” instead of “Row 14: In Progress & Credit/Pass Units”?!

Add your spring courses in Row 14. If they are planned, write in the additional comments when they will begin to be in progress.

That’s what I was told. And it makes sense too since they need to know how many units you are planning to transfer over…why would you leave out spring?

Lol ok I will…I don’t know, I think they should have mentioned it somewhere that we are supposed to do add Spring classes as in progress…I’m sure many students made this mistake and haven’t even noticed yet!

<a href=“UC Berkeley Update *URGENT* - #5 by newsoul - UC Transfers - College Confidential Forums”>UC Berkeley Update *URGENT* - #5 by newsoul - UC Transfers - College Confidential Forums;

Two years ago, this person contacted UC Berkeley and was told that putting information about planned spring course unit totals in the “additional comments box” is sufficient for the school. It makes sense too since it says nowhere on the transferable courses summary page where to enter that kind of information. This is what I plan to do and I think I’ll be fine. I strongly doubt UC Berkeley would hold it against anyone in the admissions process to enter spring 2014 planned course unit totals in the “additional comments box.” Again, it says nowhere on that page about where to put planned courses. Just completed and “in-progress” units. Nothing about “planned units.”

Edit: Hmm, on second thought, I think I’ll include those planned units in Row 14. Other people who’ve contacted Berkeley or their counselors have said to do that.

Ugh, why UC Berkeley? WHY MUST YOU MAKE THIS SO COMPLICATED?!?

LOL really…I’m happy Berkeley is not my first choice!
I wrote in additional comment I’m taking 3 units in winter, and 11 in spring 2014, total of 14 units planned and in progress for the rest of my time in CC

@bolandgoo

That sounds good. Thankfully, Berkeley isn’t my first choice either or else I’d start ripping my hair out in stress.
