pretty much agree ^ except I think ur chances at UCB, JHU, and NWU are much stronger than what the above poster thinks. Hit me back?

GPA and class rank aren’t exceptional for the top-tier schools.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/586532-chances-please.html</a></p>

^ that is definitely true, but as for class rank, our school doesn’t have exact ranks, but i’m top 20% GPA wise, and I hope colleges will understand the ranking/difficulty of my school because we’re well-known in our state.

I only know much about the california schools, but I think your a match for most of the UC’s and for SC as well. Also Northwestern I think is a match (I know its not in california) and from what I understand Penn and Cornell are pretty hard to get into (Penn more than Cornell) so I dont think they would be considered matches for anyone, but then again from Aussieland so what do I know?

Chance me back please! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/590686-quels-sont-mes-chances-si-vous-plait.html</a></p>

I agree with gy619 except the UCs.
Your being out of state puts you in a much worse position from being accepted to the UCs as the majority (Berkeley has the most diverse student body out of the UCs, but it still takes 84% of their students from CA) of the students will be from California.
That will put top UCs (Cal and LA) almost on par with HYPS in terms of chance because you have to compete with all those international and out of state students to be accepted within that limited percentage of acceptance.

However, I still think you’re a very strong candidate for all of the schools you mentioned.

Hey gl bro! I’m applying from Hawaii to some of those schools on your list. Check your pms!

haha llpitch you wanna chance me? I’ll gladly chance you back if you’d like.

and wow you’re a senior member? must’ve been browsing these forums for a while now :)

Northwestern U-high reach.
UCB-in
UCLA-in
UCSD-in
Carnegie Mellon U.-in
Cornell U.-low reach
Johns Hopkins U.-low reach
University of Pennsylvania- low reach
University of Southern California- in
Washington University in St. Louis-in
University of Washington, Seattle-in

this kid from my school got a 2090 1410/1600 and got waitlisted at UPenn and then got in so goes there now…

what are you planning on majoring in?
u have a good chance at most of these colleges just get killer recs and write killer essays

Well I think that for UPenn you have a chance, however I would have to say that you are a “semi-reach” because your extra curriculars might be your downfall. I think you are a match for all UC’s though.

College: University of Pennsylvania- Reach
College: University of California - Berkeley- Reach (toughest UC school)
College: Johns Hopkins University,- In
College: Washington University in St. Louis,- Reach
College: Cornell University,- In
College: Northwestern University,- In
College: University of California - Los Angeles,- In
College: University of California - San Diego,- In
College: University of Southern California,- In
College: Carnegie Mellon University,- In
College: University of Washington,- In

You have a pretty good shot to getting in to most of the schools in my opinion, you just have to focus on the essays and any interviews you can get from the schools. Out of the UC schools only Berkley is the toughest to get into since your out of state and its the best UC school. La and San Diego are decent but i think u can get in them. UPENN will be tough but depends what school in Penn ur applying to. :)

College: University of Pennsylvania - (wharton: reach, others: low reach/high match)
College: University of California - Berkeley, - match
College: Johns Hopkins University, - low reach/high match
College: Washington University in St. Louis, - match

College: Northwestern University, - match
College: University of California - Los Angeles,- safety
College: University of California - San Diego, - safety
College: University of Southern California, - safety
College: Carnegie Mellon University, - which school? (reach for SCS, match for others)
College: University of Washington - safety?

College: University of Pennsylvania- Reach because of EC’s

Hey thanks for all the replies. I’ll be aiming for a hard science major, probably some type of biology, so I’ll be applying to all the arts and science schools at each university. Thanks for all the help and opinions. I’ll still chance people back if they post here.
