Berkeley vs UCLA ( pre med)

I realize there been many such questions, but please help!
I was admitted to UChicago, Northwestern as well
UCSD is an option I may consider?

I'm instate, and it'll be easier for my family to pay for the UCs than the two privates, and I haven't seen that those two privates offer any significant advantage for getting into medschool.

Basically, how do UCB and UCLA compare for pre-meds? Research? Does UCLA's medical school on campus add a significant advantage? How bad is the competition at each?

Some other thoughts are this:

I live 20 min away from Berkeley..and my family is insanely protective...they'd probably call me home every weekend, or worse, eventually have me commute to school. I'm definitely not ok with this hahaha.

At the same time, I've always loved Berkeley..the culture, the people, and the school.

I know nothing about UCLA, but I feel it may be better for me in terms of getting away and experiencing college. Am I being naive and idealistic?

Berkeley
GPA suicide
No campus hospital
Research opportunities plenty, but competitive to obtain

UCLA
GPA suicide
Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center is the best hospital west of the Mississippi
Opportunity to volunteer at the hospital if you’re one of those
Research opportunities plenty, but competitive to obtain

Don’t be turned off that you have a family that wants to see your face.
College is what you make of it; you can have a nice experience going to Berkeley, too.

Where you attend undergrad will have less impact than how well you do on the MCAT, how close to a 4.0 your GPA is, and how well you take advantage of the opportunities available to you. And don’t forget passion. Because you need buttloads of passion to be a happy doctor.
