Berkeley's Mass Communications Department

I recently got accepted to both Berkeley and UCLA as a transfer.

I'm interested in pursuing Mass Communications at Berkeley. What do you think about the major? Is it hard to get into mass comm. at Berkeley? Are the upper-division courses difficult?

I'm also curious if anyone knows which school (between Berkeley and UCLA) has the better communications program, as well...

Here is a free bump, since I am also interested in this topic. A few additional questions:

1) Is comm an impacted major at Berkeley? It is supposedly THE most impacted major at UCLA, partially because of the size of the department relative to the size of the school.

2) Where can I find out more about the department? Its web site is pathetically inadequate in every respect that could be useful to an undergrad. No, I don't need a list of courses I can take, but some understanding of the educational philosophy, opportunities for undergrads, practical vs theoretical inclinations, focus on analysis of comm vs producing comm, etc. (<a href="http://ls.berkeley.edu/ugis/masscomm/%5B/url%5D">http://ls.berkeley.edu/ugis/masscomm/</a>)</p>

To the OP: if you want to learn a lot about UCLA comm, go to the UCLA board and search for comm. A poster by the name of Allie, who is a current comm major, has provided tons of useful info.

OP- I'm heavily biased towards UCLA (for both obvious and logical reasons). you can find me at the UCLA board for my reasoning.
