How helpful is the Summer Internship Program? I'm a freshman right now and I don't have that much credentials that would help me land an internship on my own. I'm also intended business major but how probable would it be that Berkeley can help me land a related internship? Should I sign up for this program as a freshman or should I just wait til next year when I've joined more clubs/have more experience?

Sorry to hi-jack but is there a way to get fin aid for summer internship? I am interested as well.

i went to infosession, and they say it’s almost a guarantee that they’ll get you an internship. just apply early for a better chance. and don’t worry, there are quite a handful of people who are freshmen that do the program

do you guys know how time consuming it will be? I’m planning on taking stats N21 alongside the internship.

^^ Can you take stats N21 as one of the additional track courses for the program?

what about for law?

good call demoz. Now I just have to find out about the financial aspect of it.

it’s really expensive and they make you take an extra class… i applied and ended up not doing it

try to find an internship yourself

I did the Berkeley summer internship last summer and they couldn’t even find me an internship. They talked as if they almost guaranteed one to every student too. Just be careful, you don’t get your deposit back if they don’t find you an internship.

so what exactly did you pay for?

$300 application fee. Yippee…I know right? I paid $300, got in to the program, they scurried to look for an internship for me and couldn’t find one.

What type of internship were you looking for and was there some specific reason you weren’t able to get one?

If anyone has experience with a business type internship in this program, I would also like to hear your thoughts. It seems unlikely that they would have any quality business firms working with them as most of their have their own hiring programs.
