I suggest you email the admissions office, or maybe just give them a call.

When do you receive your answer for acception if you applied for regular action?

jordynbuyers, you are jumping on an older Berklee thread, however, in answer to your question, regular decisions are sent out after 12:01am on 3/31/2013. For a few folks it has taken longer than that, but it seems that most folks waiting on regular decision hear in the minutes after midnight.

Hi! I have read some of your threads and figured it wouldnt hurt to reach out. I have a lot of anxiety and trying to relax and breath but it is very hard. I am 28 and went on an audition at berklee. I did pretty good and I am waiting on their response. However in this waiting game when things play on ones mind- i have developed some serious anxiety. Mainly because I am worried of picking up my life and moving to a different state but also and more importantly how am I going to pay for college. I developed this need to fulfill this dream that I put on hold for everyone else. I am hoping to get a scholarship but if I dont how would an adult get enough to go to this school :-/

Ejb, the reality is that there are very few people that get full scholarships to Berklee. Those that do seem to have a lot of momentum from their own work up to this point, national attention, professional type gigs, outstanding talent and potential.

I can’t speak specifically to their financial aid, so perhaps someone else has experience. My assumption is that even the financial aid is tied to talent. The full rides for Freshman called Presidential scholars cover room, board and tuition, but those are the uber-talented that also have financial need.

If you don’t have money already saved to cover the costs of attending Berklee, or any other music school, you need to really look at the reality of having loans coming out of music school. In all likelihood, you won’t be making a ton of money your first years after graduating, so you should plan on the reality of loan payments rather than the dream that you will suddenly hit it big and be able to cover your loans. (Some of the Grammy winners talked about their 12-year path to the Grammy’s, and clearly they had talent and drive.)

I don’t want to discourage you in this stressful time, but while you are waiting yo can investigate financing for music school.

Ejb, I don’t know what you’ve set aside for school or what if anything Berklee will award you, but i do know savings can be achieved that can make Berklee more viable. First and foremost, the dorm and mandatory meal plan is expensive and unnecessary. If you’re admitted and decide to take the plunge, get working immediately on hooking up with students in a similar boat and find yourself a cheap apt. It won’t be the Ritz and you’ll have roommates, but you’ll save a lot.Boston is full of students who share your financial predicament.Make your own meals. Develop a taste for peanut butter and pasta. Get to Boston early, in the summer when you’re lining up your apt., and get a job, and tell them when your applying that you’ll take part time hours once school starts.
It isn’t easy, but you’re 28 and I expect you already knew that. Good Luck.

Hi Halcyon & SnowFlake,
Yeah, I am fully aware of the limited scholarships that Berklee offers, I think its just a little sparkle of hope, even if its 10,000. I have always been in music and honest enough to know that I am really good at it. I was there with a friend while he audition and I could not help but shake this feeling that I had missed out on this opportunity in my life and at 28 the window is closing. So I applied. If I get accepted I am hoping to apply for some scholarships and will probably have to take out loans for the rest. I have already started looking for jobs out there and have asked the locals what are the cheaper areas to live. I grew up pretty poor and have had a sustainable job but dont have much saved. I am not living in the fantasy of a dream but I am in the reality that you only have one life and living it to please others is tiring, it is time to live for me. I am just wondering if one gets into the school and lives in another state, will the financial aid be granted in another state or do i have to apply to both?

Thanks again!
I cant tell you how much its helping to have someone to talk about it

I applied Fall 2012 and was accepted… but I had to defer my admissions to this year. Apparently I have to live on campus though, and that worries me. I wanted to cook for myself and have my own apartment… but I think Berklee will be a great experience!

You should be looking for scholarships NOW( or yesterday!). Do not wait until you have an acceptance in hand and get online right away using a good search engine. There are a lot of awards out there, so see what you qualify for (and there are some specifically for adult students). Also look in your community and local area- often local groups and agencies provided some smaller awards. Good luck!

Hey all just wanted to update that I did get accepted!!! on the wait list for fall but none the less an acceptance!!! the building isn’t done yet so if you get in for the fall you can live off campus but in the spring freshman have too. idk why. i don’t even know if i can afford to go but in all honest the accomplishment of getting in and knowing i have what it takes is such an amazing feeling!!!

ejbsinging, congratulations. I am including your acceptance over at the http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/music-major/1427644-master-list-music-school-acceptances-fall-2013-a-43.html

Can you tell me what your major will be at Berklee and your primary instrument (I’m guessing voice from your screen name.)
