Berklee Musical Theater Summer Intensive

Anyone have any feedback on this program?

I am also interested in this program. Has anyone attended or has a child that attended?

D has friends who have attended and loved it - but I have no direct/specific knowledge

My daughter did the week long MT intensive this past summer and LOVED it. Pls. let me know if you have any specific questions and I’d be happy to answer.

A friend of my daughter did it last summer and had mixed feelings- caliber of staff was amazing- but she felt it was very expensive for 5 days- technically six but the first day is settling into dorms, etc. She also felt that it was more focused on songwriting- and not performance. I would like to send my daughter there, because dates are better for us and its local, but am hesitant after her comments. It you look at the itinerary, it seems like its perfectly suited for musical theatre. I think I might have read that they made tweaks to the program- anyone have specific feedback? Especially with regards to quality of musical theater training/ cost/ratio of kids- its about 2000 for six days… Versus 2100 for oklahoma city university for 15 day program with early bird discount! However, she’d had to fly there…and we wouldnt be able to see the show… Also, no audition at Berklee, so at least you know you are in somewhere!!!

Also toying with idea of not sending her to camp at all this summer- and just using an acting coach for monologue/song prep!

Wish Berkelee would just go ahead an establish a BFA/BM in MT. Seems like they could take a unique approach – maybe focusing on contermporary MT or blending MT writing and composition with MT performance. It seems like a natural fit for them, but perhaps wishful thinking on my part.

^ Agree!

My D would have been all over that! She loved the summer program and loved living in Boston that week!

You would not have enjoyed living in Boston these last few weeks, trust me.

I would have used an emoticon but couldn’t find one that signified “Help, I’m buried in the snow”!
