Best "Accelerated Med" Book?

Hey has anyone here read any of the guide books for people applying to BA/MD programs? I've heard of books like "The High School Doctor", "From High School to Med School" and "Medical school From High School"
To anyone who's read one: which books do you suggest and why? What are each of the books strong in, and what are they lacking?
Thanks!

I have been wondering the same.

while all are useful, especially From High School to Med. School's directory of accelerated programs, I have found that doing online/telephone reserach by oneself is best. Comb through the college websites, call up deans, and talk to fellow applicants and current students.

Out of all the books, which one do you think gives more advice about the application process, and the interviews? I'm more interested in reading about applying to these programs then a description of actual programs, as that can be found in the MSAR book

The best thing to do is just go to borders/barnes and nobles and read them all.

Lol I can't. I need to order the best one online off of amazon, because NONE of the bookstores in my crappy little town have them. Which is why advice on which one to buy would be appreciated.

Although it does not pertain to medical programs, I found A is for Admission most helpful. The BA/MD books are either out of date or inaccurate.

Good idea, bharath2007. I'm going to Barnes and Noble this weekend.

BTW, there are very informative reviews on amazon.com incase you haven't seen.

i'll be honest--i have all 3 of them.....i liked the underground roadmap one for its content, i liked the one by ilyas for its COMPREHENSIVE list of programs (fyi young bloods, that's where i got my application list of 17 ba/md progs from), and i liked the one by raju and yanofski for everything in it......i couldn't narrow it down to one choice, but one thing you could do is buy the ilyas book for the list of progs and the yanofski/raju book for the content/advice....hope this helps....

also, i'd recommend buying/reading the med school admissions requirements book published by ama (?) each year. i'm sure ur guidance office should have that one, if not ur book store..

I have The High School Doctor and From High School to Med School. The High School Doctor has nice information about the schools/programs/social life/requirements and even has rankings, though it has a lot of typos and horrible grammar. The High School to Med School book has a lot of objective information, like the required scores and such.
