Best agriculture schools in CA

I heard UC Davis is really good for agriculture and cal poly San Luis Obispo isn’t bad either. Which other CA colleges have a good reputation for Ag?

UC Davis is the only UC school with a reputation in ag. Among CSU schools, Cal Poly SLO probably has the best reputation, but there are also good programs at Fresno State, Chico State, and Cal Poly Pomona.

Some California Community Colleges may have good ag programs that feed students into the 4-year schools listed above. Modesto Junior College, for example, is noted for ag; there might be others as well.

Another Community college is Pierce College along with all the other schools mentioned in the above posts for Agriculture schools. I would also add Cal Poly Pomona but Rankings put UC Davis way ahead of the others.
What type of Agriculture major are you interested in pursuing?

I’ll second Fresno and Chico as well established, quality programs. They can be selective though - not sure of your qualifications. Given their locations, I imagine Merced and Bakersfield are also good options.

Cal Poly slo is the best and San Luis Obispo in general is just a wonderful environment to be in (im a slo native so you can take my word for it  ).

Cal Poly SLO has a good reputation in general, although UC Davis has a better one, and SLO is a super dreary place to live IMO.

dreary: dull and depressing - This is definitely one person’s opinion. In 2011, Oprah voted SLO happiest city in the United States!! http://www.oprah.com/own-oprahshow/happiest-city-in-america-san-luis-obispo-video

Sure, and Oprah’s opinion is no more valid than mine lol.

what are the OPs stats?

Can you tell us why you think it is dull? Some people are into gambling, drinking, wild nightlife and this doesn’t seem to be anything SLO offers. Anything else?

@philbegas- I am curious also why you think SLO is dreary??? I would have given anything to stay there after graduation, but jobs in my field were not plentiful there. I loved my time living there and loved the school!!!

If you are planning to study plants, aside from UC Davis and CalPoly SLO, check out UC Berkeley and UC Riverside.
