Best all girl boarding schools on the east coast?

What are the best all girls boarding schools on the east coast?

The stats vary a little from year to year, but Emma Willard and Miss Porter’s vie for first place in the Northeast in SSAT, SAT, selectivity, and endowments according to “Boarding School Review.” Dana Hall and the Linden School also rank well. That said, rankings are much overrated. The best school has the best feel when you go and visit, and there are no short cuts to finding the best fit. Take the time to visit, talk to students, parents and faculty and you may be surprised that what feels right isn’t ranked #1, but has what you want. We chose a school that was third in “rankings” (coed and all-girls) on our list but first in overall fit. For us, fit was about faculty and student values, casualness, geographic and cultural diversity and food – none of which are readily quantifiable :)
