Can anyone give me a list of the schools that offer the best animal science programs/pre-vet programs? Preferably on the east coast.

I definitely know that Cornell and NCSU have good programs. They are both awesome, awesome research schools. I think Cornell is the number one vet school and NCSU is number three.

Colorado State, Fort Collins has a highly ranked Vet School and “prevet” majors and guidance

I’m at NC State right now, and there are a lot of pre-vet resources here. Plus, it isn’t hard at all to get involved in research. I am SO happy with my decision to go here :)

almost all the large state schools have pre-vet programs: Auburn, Maryland, Penn State, Cornell, Rutgers, Delaware, NC State, VA Tech, etc. Do your research to make sure they have barns and animals on campus and undergrads have good access.

Most large public landgrant universities will provide an animal sciences program suitable for pre-vet purposes. Hence, your in-state landgrant university might be the least expensive. However, since vet school admission is very competitive you should look farther afield than just East coast universities will give you more options.
Kansas State, for example, has a program for early admission to vet school: [College of Veterinary Medicine](http://www.vet.k-state.edu/admit/early.htm)

Also see Augustana College, which has an early admission program to U Illinois Vet School.

U Missouri is another: [College of Veterinary Medicine - Pre-Veterinary Medicine (PVM) and AgScholars Programs](http://vetmed.missouri.edu/pre-vet-scholars.htm)

Or, the VetFast program at U Minnesota: [Pre-Veterinary Medicine : College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences : University of Minnesota](http://www.cfans.umn.edu/UndergraduateStudents/CurrentStudents/MajorsandMinors/Pre-Vet/index.htm)

Delaware Valley College in PA is very good school for any science related major. They also have 2 animal science labs right on campus

Berry College has the top animal science major because it’s hands-on, working with the animals.

University of Connecticut at Storrs has a good animal science program. This year about 20 students got accepted to vet school.

I just graduated from Cornell’s Animal Science program and I’ll be attending vet school in the fall as will many of my friends. I really enjoyed the program and got lots of hands on experience both in my classes and by joining a livestock club and volunteering at the vet school.
