I’ll be self-studying and I want to know which books are used in-classroom with a great degree of success. My school doesn’t offer Euro, and none of the neighboring schools do either. Thanks

A History of Western Society was pretty great! I recommend it. It’s easy enough to read and it definitely is enough to get a 5!
Good luck on your self study!

Jackson Spielvogel! I believe Western civilization from ~1400 onward! I used it…got a 5!. Dense textbook but really excellent!

Western Civilization is 1500 onward, or at least the version I have is… so it only doesn’t cover the Renaissance.

I actually bought both A History of Western Society (the since 1300 version) and Western Civilization (Volume II, from 1500) for my self-study of AP Euro this upcoming year g. So far, I’ve only really looked at AHWS, and I have to say that I really like it. There are certain things that it seems to go a bit more in-depth on than I am interested in, but I actually feel I can 1) read it without falling asleep, and 2) read a chapter in sections and feel like I ACTUALLY absorbed the information.

My plan is to also use Modern European History to summarize and reinforce ideas after reading the sections in the textbook(s).

Good luck on self-studying!
