HADES+Groton+Middlesex+Milton+Choate is generally what I consider top 10.

Loomis + Deerfield

.. and then the rest
LOL my list is completely and utterly distorted..

...I know. It is all about what school fits best for each student, but that's not the question. The question is: What is the most elite school?

Of course the most elite school is not necessarily the best, because the best is different for everyone, but we are talking about elite here.

Uh, I'm pretty sure the title of this thread is "Best Boarding Schools" and the first post asks what you think the "5 best schools" are, not what you think the "5 most elite schools" are. Best does not equal elite.

Hey Everyone!

My three older brothers have all gone to Deerfield and LOVE it!!! The teachers are truely motivated and want you to succeed. Housing is amazing, the dorms are larger than any other dorm I have seen. Food is amazing! and most importantly, you will recieve an amazing education. My brothers have all graduated and currently have salaries about $100,000. So basically what I'm trying to say is go to Hotchkiss.
Good luck!

Izzy, what about L'ville. L'ville tops MX and Choate.

Soo which did they go to...Deerfield or Hotchkiss? lol. And I don't think their salaries are of much importance to this, because what boarding school you went to generally doesn't have much of an effect on your salary...it's your college and your college degree.

Smells like a confused person or a troll to me.

My top 5 would be:
Andover, Lawrenceville, St Paul, Exeter, and Taft (In no particular order)

Taft? Umm, WHAT!

Okay HERE are the REAL DEFINITIVE INARGUABLY TOP FIVE SCHOOLS:
- The school you are at.
- The school you want(ed) to go to.
- The school your brother/sister/father/mother went to.
- The school your best friend is at.
- The school you secretly wish you could go to, but are willing to forgive even though the did not admit you.

okay… and then there is MY school which I know in my head and heart just simply is the best.

I have to say that Taft is another one of those schools that I wonder why it’s not mentioned much on CC. Saw the campus for first time today for a sporting event and was blown away by the campus. My younger son said it looked “like Harry Potter” and he was right. I also know they have a strong math program. Those of you searching for the right school might want to take a hard look.

personally top 5 schools are based on peoples’ opinions, right?
well, i personally think my top 5 would be (you all can disagree w/ me):

exeter, andover, sps, groton, and deerfield.

(not in order)

Mine would be Andover, Exeter, Lawrenceville, St.Pauls, Choate(iffy) they’re in order.

Andover

Andover

Andover

SPS

Exeter

something like that

I like smaller schools so:
Groton
Middlesex
St Marks
St Georges
Deerfield (abit big but worth the sacrifice)

MIDDLESEX! That’s where I’m going.

The top five in my opinion would be HADES, except in the order DEAHS. I bumped SPS back one because they waitlisted me :P

In all honesty though, and everyone who can remember when I almost irrationally eliminated Deerfield before revisits can help me on this, Deerfield, in my opinion, has always deserved a spot in the top 5.

After those five would come Groton, Lawrenceville, Milton, Middlesex, Choate, Taft, etc.

@ IzzyBusyBee-you were reading BSR wrong. For SAT scores, any school with an average above 2000 is put into one group, then listed in alphabetical order. Thus Concord appears before Exeter, Deerfield, and some other who, if you clicked on the school profile, are listed to have higher SAT scores. Ditto with Choate and acceptance rates; anything below 25% is compiled together then spit back out in alphabetical order. I haven’t checked on the other stats you listed, but I would assume it would be the same.

Too much subjective analysis in your ranking. Read PrepReview, exactly how it should be… Objective.

PPV: Not all qualities of a school are quantifiable…

When you rank schools you cannot do it on “fit”, and “culture”… Not everyone has the same desires in that realm… What one can do, however, see objectively which school is the best. To that effect, everyone likes high SAT scores and good college matriculation.

Pinkheart is going to Deerfield, but Milton, SPS, Exeter, and Andover have an objective lead above Deerfield.
