I am currently reading Grapes of Wrath for my Junior Honors English class and I love it, I have never liked a book I was forced to read for school this much and I was wondering what other books people were forced to read but then really enjoyed. What are your favorites??

Freakonomics, Life of Pi, and The Book Thief.

To Kill a Mockingbird
All Quiet on the Western Front wasn’t too bad
Animal Farm
Night

A better question (for myself) would be what I havent enjoyed reading. LOL

To answer that, I hated Romeo and Juliet with a vengeance. To your question, however, I probably enjoyed reading Lord of the Flies the most. Only a sophomore, though, and looking at the required reading for English next year my favorite would probably change.

The Great Gatsby
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
Brave New World
:)

-To Kill a Mockingbird

-Lord of The Flies (Really hard to read because the writing style was just awful, lots of grandiose verbosity, but overall it was a good book and made me think)

Tale of two cities
Great Expectations

Sent from my HTC One X using CC

I actually enjoyed most of the books I’ve had to read in English! My favorite was probably One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest - it’s really funny! Kinda sad too.

I’m currently reading Crime and Punishment and it’s really interesting!

The Great Gatsby
Life of Pi
The Maltese Falcon
Candide
Inferno
Canterbury Tales: The Miller’s Tale
Nickel & Dimed (an undercover journalist’s firsthand account of the hardships of being low-wage American)

Jane Eyre…
Freakonomics (wasn’t forced to read that… but I was surprised at how I just LOVED a non novel that much!)
Rebecca
Of Mice and Men

The list goes ON and ON of books I like… But I wasn’t really forced to read any of which. lol

The Great Gatsby
The Glass Castle
Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant

I am jealous of high schools that have you guys read Freakonomics (I LOVE that book)

Oh They don’t… I don’t any school would… lol

I so love that book too!!! But how can we “study”… can just imagine the # of debates it’ll initiate… hahaXD
