Which are the best books to study for these two subject tests.

I nearly forgot everything except the basics from Physics class...

for math 2 i used barrons, pr, and the cb practice test booklet.

barrons is about 3 times harder than the real thing and a barrons practice test will leave you with a headache.

pr covers some material omitted in barrons which is actually very important so the content is actually pretty good too. also the practice tests also have lots of sneaky but simple tricks on them which will put you in a mindset to keep you on your toes.

the 2 cb practice tests i think are a bit easier versions of the real thing. They particularly don't ask any challenging questions involving statistics (SD), so it's a good idea to supplement cb practice tests with barrons.

i used these three books and i'm pretty sure i got an 800 today

but then again i needed a thorough review because most of the precalc stuff i don't even use as often anymore in my current calc courses.

i'm in the same boat. taking trig and physics right now and want to take the subject test.

for math 2 get barrons and meylani "15 realistic test for the sat math level2".
Meylani has some difficult questions, but it gets you prepared.
I used meylani and PR and both tests in PR i got 500s range, yea my score is just horrible but after taking some practice with meylani, timed or untimed, it boost my confidence on the real test. Im happy that i got a 650 on the real, yet i didnt use all 15 tests, but i think i would scored higher if i had more time. It was just school thats distracting me. If you decide to get meylani, i suggest you have a timed test on barrons or pr on their diagnostic or test 1, and then use meylani for practice, and then probably few days before you can try test 2 to see your results.

Good luck

What about Physics ? :-)

do NOT use meylani.

i went through the first 3 tests in his book, and maybe 2 percent of the questions were things that you need to know for the math level 2 test. the questions were too hard and covered topics you didn't need to know at all.

seriously, taking a calc bc course is not going to prep you for a precal course, if you get the analogy.

use pr, sparknotes, kaplan, and the collegeboard books. they'll do the job.
make sure you read pr's hints, they're vey helpful

i got a 760 and i used the princeton review book. it was REALLY awesome and you honestly don't need to do anything but that book. i've heard horror stories about all this extra preparation that people endure only to see none of what they studied on the actual test.

go through pr once and it will definitely help you get a high score.

PR for Math 2, also use SN tests.

PR also for Physics :) (Got an 800!)

i'm in regular trig/precalc now and i took alg2 last year.

Ankur, I don't mean to hijack the thread. i think we're asking the same question ;)

Greenhall Publishing's Acing the SAT Subject Tests in Math Level 1 and Level 2 by Thomas Hyun
McGraw-Hill's Conquering SAT Math, 2nd Ed. by Robert Postman
Cracking the SAT Math 1 and 2 Subject Tests, 2007-2008 Edition

all three get good reviews. i'm looking for a didactic book that will help me not only review but learn. PR's seems to be the most praised so i plan to get it, but is there another that teaches math rather than simply gives you test questions?

thanks

so far i'm looking at sparknotes and PR

there's no need to use barron's. i just took the oct. mathII after prepping with princeton review, and i'm fairly sure i got 800. (790 at worst) barron's is waaaay too hard.

Okay, thanks for the help everyone. Bumping this just in case anyone else needs to see it to make a decision on the books to buy.

Barron's for Math II and PR for Physics.
