I want to get an iphone when I start Cal next year, and wanted to hear opinions/feedback on experiences with different service providers. When I went to CalSo with my TMobile HTC One S, I couldn't get any signal once I walked into the buildings. How have peoples' experiences been with iPhone with TMobile? How about Verizon? I'm dorming in unit 2 next year, how's the service there?

I use Verizon, and, during my entire time at Cal, I never really had any problems with getting a signal in any of the buildings, with the exception of Doe Library/Mainstacks. Most of my friends either had Verizon or AT&T, and they also couldn’t get a signal inside of Doe Library/Mainstacks, so it could just be the building (or on purpose so people don’t talk on their cell phones inside the library, even though you can just use an app or service to make calls through the internet, lol). The campus also has an agreement with AT&T (I believe), so if you have AT&T, their signal & wifi is pretty accessible (AT&T wifi has been popping-up a lot lately).

I dormed in Unit 2 as well and my signal from Verizon was always really strong. But either way, you should double-check how your cell phone works on another day, since your T-Mobile could have just been acting up that one day on CalSo. I know my Verizon signal gets weird on rare days (probably because the towers/signals are being maintained or other factors), so it’s always a good idea to double-check. (The costliness of Verizon always made me want to switch to T-Mobile or another provider, so it’s better to make sure before you’re locked into a 2-year contract.)
