Cheapest carrier, I suggest, T-Mobile! You can get the HTC One X or Samsung Galaxy S II now both for free during their father’s day sale.

If you know little about smartphones and tech, get an iPhone. Android is far too high maintenance for people who don’t know what they’re doing. iPhone is perfect for those less knowledgeable in technology or for those who just want something that works without tinkering or headaches. After a while of Android (rooting, customizing, blah blah), I think I’m even going to return to the safety of iOS when the iPhone comes out.

iPhones aren’t more expensive that high-end Android phones if you’re signing a contract with AT&T/Verizon/Sprint, but if you’re budget-conscious or unable to leech off of your parents’ family plan, T-Mo prepaid or some other prepaid carrier might be the way to go. But you’ll probably have to use an Android phone. (If you go iPhone prepaid, you’re going to have to shell out like $500-$700 for the phone itself.)

I’m sort of in the same boat. I have a Galaxy Nexus right now but I’ve all but decided to jump (back) to iOS when the next iPhone comes out. All my friends use WhatsApp, so cross-platform communication isn’t the issue; I just want something that doesn’t overheat after 10 minutes of use, isn’t ridiculously huge, doesn’t have a PenTile display (ugh!), and lasts a day without having to constantly monitor my battery usage. Also, Samsung phones are uuuuugly.

By the way, the iPhone’s glass is still pretty great. The Galaxy Nexus doesn’t use real Gorilla Glass, either.

Galaxy S3 will be the best.

Android isn’t high maintenance at all. Most smart phones are very user friendly.

yeah it’s not like it’s a 1980s command line interface.

I don’t know why people keep saying that an iphone is easier to use. I know nothing about rooting or really anything special with phones. My droid has been particularly easy to use and does what I need it to do and more.

It takes a little bit to get used to, but so does an iphone or any other new piece of technology.

Is there a smaller version of the Samsung Galaxy? I don’t like the size of the S2 and I think the S3 is even bigger. Believe me, I really want an iphone but am stuck with T-mobile for a while… :’( I do like the interface of the droid and find it really easy to use, as well as the quality of the samsung screen, I just would like a smaller size.
