Best Cellphone service in UChicago area?

Any suggestion from those with the downlow?

My Verizon contract is up and I'm going to renew sometime this summer with a new service. I really hate Verizon and sorta want to go to Cingular... soooo

Input is appreciated :)

I like my Verizon. :)

I think all the major companies are probably fine.

Haha same, tho now its called [the new] AT&T. Cingulair has nice phones. In any major urban area I wouldn't think phone coverage is a problem for any SP.

I just ask because here in Phoenix some of the big companies get crappy reception.

Alltel, Sprint, and Verizon all have somewhat mediocre service here and we're the 7th largest city in the US =/

Switch to Cingular so you can pick up the iPhone when it drops.

I love cingular. I've never had a dropped call in the YEAR that I've used them.
And like somebody said...it's CHICAGO. Anything will work.

I live rather close to the school, and I have to say that Cingular is my favorite. Living this close to the city- any service is decent, so pick the best price or phone you wish to use.

Just dont' get the razr or c'razr. Their battery lives are poor and they cause more trouble than it's worth.

My Razr has a 1 week long battery life... but I dont talk on the phone too much so I guess it depends. I got mine back in December '05.. and it works great in and around the chicago area.

Tks for all the info guys.

As for Razr and Crazr or whatever it's called, I don't plan on getting either. I currently own a Razr and the battery life is actually pretty short (it varies from phone to phone though, so I have no doubt that Kensir's is still great)

I'm planning on getting a Blackberry Pearl or a Samsung Blackjack and getting the data plan so I can check email and surf the web and such whenever I feel like it. I might not though.. Still, blackberry pearl is the sweetspot of the cellphone market, imo. Great compact size, good price, loaded with features.

D has T-Mobile (family plan, works great for the rest of us), and it's tolerable, but plenty of dropped calls. It was worse her first year, because her dorm room was essentially a dead spot -- down the hallway was much better. On the main campus, it always works fine.

So . . . if you're choosing fresh, I wouldn't pick T-Mobile, but it's not so bad that you should pay a lot to get out of your contract if you already have it.

We also have the T-Mobile family plan. S had no problems using it last summer when he was at Chicago. No extra charges. No dropped calls - but he was living at Max P. and would call us from there.
