Best Cellphone Sevice Provider?

Can some of the current students or anyone who has accurate info tell me which cellphone provider is the best to have at Emory? Thanks a bunch!

cingular and verizon are both fine. i know people with both.

It all depends on where you live. You could live somwhere that no service would be available for any provider.

this kid has no idea what hes talking about. everyone has their cell phone glued to their head at emory. the emory campus is well covered. sometimes you cant get good service in your room, but that's only because the walls are concrete and thick. most people just keep the same number and service that they had at home. just make sure you have free long distance.

i've been at emory for the past few weeks and it seems like every phone has its patches of no service somewhere. i have a nextel and have no complaints, but, in the duc, almost no one gets reception because the wall are so thick.

It doesn't matter which telephone service provider you have. They all work for the same people, folks. They may lead you to believe that each provider has significant differences in coverage, but in fact they all rent out the same cell phone towers. It's a conspiracy, like the federal government.

How is the reception determined? Is it by the cell phone model? My friend has a cingular phone and I have a T-mobile phone, when he's at my house he doesnt have reception, yet I have full reception.

I'd say Cingular. Cingular pretty much owns the Atlanta area, because people can bundle their plans with their home phone service (BellSouth owns Cingular, so many pick Cingular to save money). Really, though, any provider should be fine. Many companies invest a good deal of capital into the Atlanta area due to its high concentration of cell users (80%, highest in the nation), the "urban sprawl" and traffic issues, and the amount of time consumers spend on their cell phones here (like one person said, people are glued to their phones because they are generally away from home, in their car, at work, etc.).

yall are all thinking about this way too much. its really not that big of a deal. after a year, ive never heard anyone complain that their cell phone didnt work an inordinate amount of time.

As an Emory student, I've heard bad things about T-Mobile and Sprint. I would assume the other services work pretty much equally, although there is a Verizion kiosk in the DUC so I have to wonder if they've got some special deal. Most people, though, just bring their cell phones from home.

When I was there for Emory Scholars weekend, my T-Mobile phone was erratic at best. I'm considering switching over to Verizon.
