Best Chemical Engineering college

I am applying to Villanova, Lehigh, Bucknell, Penn State and Pitt. Which of these has the best chemical engineering program all around? I do not want to see rankings. From what you have seen or if you are apart of any of these programs, what do you think? Thank you.

and ideas?

Penn State will offer the better engineering program out of any of those, although Pitt isn’t far behind.

what makes Penn State the best

I would go to Penn State, just has the best reputation for chemical engineering and engineering as a whole. Also, if you decide not to do engineering, Penn State has many excellent majors as well.

any other ideas?

If you don’t want to use rankings, what do you want to use to judge them?

If you just want people’s impressions of the schools: Penn State is the best. Pitt is an “up-and-coming” program but hasn’t reached PSU’s level yet. I’ve also had very good experiences with Villanova graduates and have heard many positive things about the school. I’ve not had good experiences with Lehigh graduates, but the sample size has been small so I really can’t make any generalizations about the school. I’ve known a few Bucknell graduates, but haven’t worked closely with them.

G.P.Burdell- that is what i wanted to know know. From graduates who you have come in contact with, what do you think? and i was also asking what people thought if they have been involved in those programs. Your answer is exactly what I was looking for.

OP- just take note of the above mention of “sample size”- outcomes for any individual, or even small samples of individuals, from any school or program can be highly variable. Some examples:

Penn State: from what I can tell my company really loves Penn State graduates, recruits and hires from there regularly. However my own experience with Penn State graduates has been very mixed. I have encountered and worked with some really weak Penn State engineers, including some who graduated with high GPAs but haven’t mastered their fundamentals.
Villanova: The few grads I’ve worked with have been quite good, with the emphasis on FEW
Pitt: It’s strange. In my limited experience it’s been a little bit hard for Pitt candidates to get hired at my company. I’ve interviewed a few and I believed they were good guys, but apparently others felt they didn’t inteview well. I’ll be honest with you- I think maybe their native Western Pa. backgrounds had something to do with it.
Lehigh and Bucknell: no experience and very limited experience, respectively.
