No worries, :)

For people who don’t know this college: “All of our 400 students come to us after 10th or 11th grade in high school.” There’s at least one other college like this, although I cannot remember its name.

Early College, first please heed the advice about blaming teachers for your poor performance. I’ll go one step further than the poster who told you not to mention it: don’t believe it. Unless you have the highest grade in the class, then it cannot be the teaching. Yes, the teacher might not inspire you, but YOU are the one who did not rise to the challenge. Mature students take responsibility for their own failings.

That said, go ahead and apply, provided that your parents are willing to send you there. You might not get full aid, so you need to have a serious talk with them about this plan. In case you either don’t get in or cannot afford it once they give you the FA package, you should have a back-up plan, something that will help you get through the next few years. Maybe you will want to take a night course at a community college, or take a HS course with a teacher who has a good reputation. Challenge yourself. Colleges, whether Simon’s Rock or NYU, will want to see you conquer adversity.

Actually there our other early programs, but Simon’s Rock is the only early college out there. USC has a program, but it is not like Simon’s Rock.

In our state, there is a new curriculum. Teachers have never taught this before and last semester about half the kids failed. In my class, 7 kids failed out of the 20 something. I passed, but we were not ready for this course. You can ask other teacher, but my teacher seems to be lazy. She gives us homework and then doesn’t really teach us it. Since were in Accelerated Math, she thinks we will learn it our selves. She also never grades our papers and I never know what I have in her class. My teacher is also older and a new teacher. I am not blaming her, but there is something wrong when this many kids fail. The guidance counselor has been very upset with the math teachers as a whole. I also always have taken responsibility for my grades, even when I have bad teachers. I also wouldn’t bring that up to admissions, I am not that ignorant. I understand fully what you are saying, :)

I am def. going to apply and just see what happens. Question: How much loans is too much? Is 10k-20k a year a lot? Would it be worth it? I also have been talking to my counselor about other options. What ever happens, happens for a reason.
