Which combination of classes will look better for my junior year? I am aiming for the Ivy league. Due to scheduling issues I am unable to take certain combinations of classes. In addition, AP physics b will not be available my senior year because my school is turning it into a 2 year course as of next year

Ap US history
Ap Physics B
Precalculus
AP Chemistry

or

Ap US history
Ap chemistry
honors precalculus
honors physics

Definitely the first one. AP Physics + AP Chemistry is extremely difficult but totally worth it.

Thanks but if you were to replace the ap chem on the first one with french IV honors, would it still be worth it? I am not entirely sure if the ap chem, ap physics combination is possible.

Eh. French in lieu of Chem doesn’t really do much for me - I’d really try for the Physics and Chem combo, killer but I know hellla kids that got into MIT + Harvard with Physics and Chem their Junior year (and then like Phys. C their senior year or something.)

Yeah; the first one seems more impressive, esp. if you’re aiming for Ivy League.

I’m also a junior and I’m not bothering with Ivy League (I’m aiming for California Universities) but I’m taking AP Chemistry. Heard it was quite a bit subjective to students but generally hard.

Good luck and hope you’re up for the challenge!

Are honors classes generally not that big of a deal especially when there are ap versions of the same class? Thank you, I appreciate the help

The first one looks good, but I think that you should aim to have a bit more variety (I know it’s hard to show lots of “variety” with just four classes, but still). By “variety” I mean taking more than one humanities class.

I quadrupled in math/science courses (honours physics, honours optics, AP Chem, AP Calculus) in my junior year, but my college counselor recommended that I take some extra humanities courses to balance that out, and I’m very glad that he suggested that.

Yes I’m taking other classes such as English and electives I just didn’t post them because I am automatically taking them

Oh okay, in that case I would say the first set of options then :)

And honors classes do look good, but AP classes look even more impressive and count for more when calculating weighted GPA’s.
