Best community colleges in WA?

So I'm a UW undergrad, and I want to spend a quarter or two in a CC (to earn VLPA credits primarily). What are some good (and cheap for intl students) CC near UW-Seattle? I am looking for a great community to make friends, and study hard.

If you do suggest some college, please also write why it's a good choice for me.

Of course, the closest to UW-Seattle are the schools in the Seattle Community College System. North Seattle Community College has many good programs and seems to have a good department for classes that will satisfy VLPA grad requirements. I am pretty sure that the International Student tuition rate is set on a statewide basis, so I don’t think that you will find differences in cost at the various CCs.

A little further north is Edmonds CC, which has a large International Student population. They too have strong performing and visual arts classes.

I would recommend my college, Everett CC, but it is getting kind of far away from Seattle. We have a growing International Student community, and a very strong Arts program.

Hi Geek Zu,

Green River Community College is located in Auburn, WA, and there is a large body of international students. Here is a link to international programs: [Welcome to Green River Community College International Programs](International Programs - Green River College)

Unfortunately, Green River is about 25 miles south of Seattle, where Everett is about 25 miles to the north.

I am finishing up at Pierce College in Lakewood, WA, which is about 35 miles south of Seattle, but larger than Green River, and a great community college. I’ve had quite a bit of contact with international students and have heard a lot of favorable responses. I will finish my AA-DTA in a few weeks and have had great instructors throughout my time at Pierce and scheduling classes has been very convenient.

There are three community colleges locations that I know of in Seattle, but I have no experience with any of them. It may be advantageous to spend your first two years at one of the outlying community colleges, as the cost of living is lower than in the city. Just my two cents. Hope this helps.

I did Bellevue College (will be transferring to UW next month) since it offered a lot of online classes and liked it a lot. There are a ton of international students there so they’ve obviously got something going for them on that side. Many of my classes had UW students in them, too.
